Every year, Dengue silently threatens our Children, our families, and our future. Every mosquito breeding site left behind is a risk to someone's life. As Lions, we cannot stand by while preventable diseases bring pain to our community. With a heartfelt vision to make Bandarawela safer, Project Chairperson Lion Kusal Mudannayake MAF conceived, initiated, and passionately led the "Dengue Free Bandarawela 2026" campaign. What began as his vision soon became a united mission embraced by the Lions Club of Bandarawela, which proudly organized and successfully implemented this landmark community service project in collaboration with the Bandarawela Municipal Council. Under the dedicated leadership of Lion Kusal Mudannayake MAF, Lions members, health officials, municipal staff, schools, religious institutions, and volunteers came together as one family with one purpose—to protect lives before it is too late. The campaign covered Bus Stand, seven schools, temple, kovil, mosque, two churches, Police Station, Pre Schools, and surrounding public areas, carrying out mosquito fogging, environmental clean-up, elimination of breeding sites, inspections by MOH officials, and extensive public awareness programs. This project was not just about cleaning the environment—it was about protecting every child who dreams of tomorrow, every mother who prays for her family's safety, and every elder who deserves to live without fear of dengue. Every breeding site removed was a promise of hope. Every step taken was an act of love for our community. The project was honored by the presence of Region Chairman Lion Maduranga Manorathna MJF PMAF, Zone Chairman Lion A. Ganeshan PMAF JP, and Club President Lion V. Sooriyakumar MAF SLF, whose encouragement strengthened this noble initiative. The Lions Club of Bandarawela extends its deepest gratitude to every Lion, government official, volunteer, teacher, religious leader, and community member who stood together to transform the vision of Project Chairperson Lion Kusal Mudannayake MAF into a life-saving reality.
