Project Description:
The Lions Club successfully conducted a Beach Cleanup and Environmental Awareness Project at Navalady Beach on 29 July 2026. The primary objective of the project was to promote environmental awareness, encourage proper waste management, and contribute to the preservation of the coastal environment through community service.
The project was honored by the participation of the District Governor, whose presence motivated the members and highlighted the importance of environmental conservation. Lions members worked together to remove plastic waste from the beach, helping to create a cleaner and safer environment for the community and marine life.
Project Outcomes:
Plastic waste collected: 4 kg
Project cost: LKR 5,000
District Governor participated in the project.
Increased public awareness of environmental protection and the importance of keeping beaches free from plastic pollution.
