A seminar organised jointly by Lions Club of Nawalapitiya Kithmale, the Medical Officer of Health Nawalapitiya, and the Praja Shakthi division of the Pasbage Korale Divisional Secretary's office organised an awareness programme about dengue and dengue prevention and people's responsibilities for preventing Dengue in the community. This was held at Jayasundara Muslim Cultural Hall, Nawalapitiya, on 7th of July, starting at 8.00 am continued up to 1.00 pm. Lion Kithsiri (President), Lion Hema (Secretary), Lion Dr Yohananthan (2nd VDG) and Lion Menaka participated. 2 Public Health Inspectors from the MOH office, Nawalapitiya, participated. 12 volunteers from the village participated. A detailed account of the spread of dengue by AEDES mosquitoes was explained in detail iin tamil and Sinhala to the audience. Questions from the audience were answered by Lion Dr Yohananthan. The participants were given Shorteats and Tea.
