The Lions Club of Kattankudy MAF Excellence successfully addressed a pressing community need at the Abkar Masjid. Following a formal request from the masjid’s management, it was identified that worshippers faced significant discomfort and exposure to the elements while performing ablution during rainy weather. Recognizing the urgency of providing a sheltered and dignified space for prayer preparation, the project was shared within the club’s WhatsApp group , where two dedicated members immediately stepped forward to sponsor and oversee the construction of a protective roof hut for the outdoor ablution area.
The project was executed with efficiency, with construction reaching completion and becoming available for public use in January. This initiative was led by Project Chairman Lion Nowsar MAF and Joint Project Chairman Lion Shamil Mohideen MAF. The total investment for the structural improvements amounted to 365,000/-, representing a significant contribution toward the local infrastructure and the well-being of the congregation.
The formal handover ceremony took place today, marking the official completion of the project. The event was graced by the presence of Zone Chairperson Lion Mathivathanan MJF MAF, alongside the Club President, various members, and the masjid’s management committee. This project stands as a testament to the club’s commitment to rapid response and community service, ensuring that the spiritual practices of the residents are supported by safe and comfortable facilities.
