During February 2026, the Lions Club of Bandarawela proudly continued its ongoing monthly community service initiative of providing tea and refreshments to the Vocational Training Unit at Base Hospital, Bandarawela. Conducted regularly every Tuesday and Friday, this thoughtful project aimed to bring comfort, encouragement, and a sense of care to those engaged in the training program as well as to patients and staff within the unit.
This meaningful initiative not only provided refreshments but also helped create a pleasant and supportive environment that promotes emotional well-being and reduces daily stress within the hospital setting. On average, around 45 beneficiaries—including vocational trainees, patients, and staff members—enjoyed the refreshments during each session.
Throughout the eight service days, members of the Lions Club of Bandarawela actively took part in distributing refreshments and interacting warmly with the beneficiaries, spreading positivity and strengthening morale within the unit. Their presence and kind words added a human touch that greatly uplifted the spirits of those present.
In addition, the club continued its support by contributing towards the teachers’ allowances, acknowledging the dedicated efforts of the instructors who play an essential role in guiding and empowering trainees with valuable vocational skills for a better future.
Through this ongoing service project, the Lions Club of Bandarawela reaffirms its commitment to compassionate community service—promoting dignity, encouragement, and holistic well-being within our community.
