Project Description
During the month of July, our club continued the ongoing service project of providing tea and refreshments to the Mental Health Unit, Base Hospital Bandarawela. This project is carried out every Tuesday and Friday to support 35 trainees undergoing vocational training and 5 staff members attached to the unit.
On average, 4 Lions members participated in each session, devoting about 2 hours per day to serve refreshments and engage with the beneficiaries, bringing them encouragement and a sense of care. This project not only addresses a simple need but also uplifts the morale of the patients and staff alike, fostering a spirit of community service and compassion.
Value of the Project
For Participants: 40 per day × 9 days = 360 beneficiaries
Refreshment Cost: 360 × Rs. 200.00 = Rs. 72,000.00
Lion Hours: 2 hours × 4 Lions × 9 days = 72 hours × Rs. 500.00 = Rs. 36,000.00
Transport Cost: 9 days × Rs. 500.00 = Rs. 4,500.00
Total Value of the Project: Rs. 112,500.00
Total Beneficiaries: 360 individuals
