Vision screening programme for elders in the village of Harangala Kotmalle was screened for vision by the consultant eye surgeon, Dr Dilani Adikaram. 3 house officers, 10 nurses, one octometrist with four supporting minor staff screened 170 elderly people. The event was graced by the divisional secretary, Kotmalle pradeshiya saba chirmen, school principal and teachers, and pradeshiya saba staff. 8 Lions, including the president, Secretary and project chairman, participated in the programme. 23 elders requiring cataract surgery were referred to the Lions Eye Centre, District General Hospital, Nawalapitiya for cataract surgery. The people requiring spectacles will be provided with free spectacles by the social service section of the Kotmalle Divisional Secretary's office. 50 school children were also screened, and four children needing spectacles will be provided with spectacles from the Lions Club of Nawalapitiya Kotmalle.
