As part of our Hunger Relief Project, our Lions Club organized the preparation and distribution of food for approximately 15,000 pilgrims who participated in the annual feast of Ayitiyamalai sahayamatha Church, Batticaloa. A total of LKR 1.5 million was spent on the project to provide nutritious meals, including beef curry and chicken curry, to the devotees. The project was successfully carried out with the support of 35 volunteers, contributing a total of 280 volunteer hours. The 306 D10 District Governor and other district leaders were invited to participate in the event; however, due to an official meeting scheduled on the same day, they were unable to attend. Nevertheless, First Vice District Governor Lion Aaththian, Zone Chairman Lion Manoharan, District Cabinet Secretary Lion Tarshan, and other key club office bearers participated actively in the food preparation and distribution. Members of the Leo Club of St.Michaels College, as well as the Apex Club, also joined the initiative and supported the distribution of meals to the pilgrims. This collaborative effort demonstrated the Lions' commitment to serving the community and addressing hunger through compassionate and meaningful service.
