The Pilgrimage Support Project was successfully organized to support approximately 5,000 pilgrims participating in the annual pilgrimage to the Ayyithiyamalai Satha Sahayamatha Church in Batticaloa. The project was totally funded by the Lions club of batticaloa singing fish, with an estimated total expenditure of LKR 125,000, covering refreshments, transportation, and related arrangements. As part of the initiative, Our club Lions members prepared and distributed cold refreshment drinks to pilgrims who walked approximately 23 kilometres from the batticaloa city to the destination church, helping them stay refreshed and comfortable throughout their pilgrimage journey. Around 12 Club members actively participated in the event and contributed to its successful implementation. The 306 D10 District Governor, the and their respective GAT team members were invited to participate; however, due to their official commitments, they were unable to attend. Nevertheless, the several key Lions representatives, including Zone Chairperson lion Manoharan, and other Club members, participated and supported the programme. In addition to the refreshment distribution, a small environmental cleaning activity was conducted along the pilgrimage route, where members collected discarded cups, food packages, and other waste left behind by pilgrims and handed the collected waste over to the Batticaloa Municipal Council for proper disposal. The event was successfully completed through the collective efforts of the Lions members and volunteers, utilizing a total of 48 Lionistic man-hours in service to the community.
